Regrets, I've Had A Few
/I've been posting my thoughts on the internet for 25 years. That’s nearly half my life. The internet was new to us, and we had to go to Radio Shack to buy a very long telephone extension chord to go from our house to the little in-laws quarters in our backyard where we put the computer. The sound our modem made when connecting to AOL, and the sound of picking up the cordless phone in the kitchen only to realize the “internet was on” are sounds I don’t think I’ll ever forget.
That brings me to my first regret. I’ve been writing on the internet for a long time, with great big gaps in between. Lots of fits and starts. I’ve always been a note taker and regular journaler, but have been far less regular on my blog. I’ve lost count of how many blogs I’ve started. I don’t regret them ending… they were great experiences. But I do regret not writing here more frequently. And it’s not about views. Obviously, I’ve never cared about that. But just having a public space to find what I was thinking about.
I waited until I was in my early fifties before drinking coffee. It was always that something that interested me. I loved the smell (most of the time) but was always intimidated by the multitude of choices when it comes to coffee. I’ve now finally gotten to the point where I don’t remember how many times I’ve drank coffee. It’s surely less than 25, but I don’t know that number anymore. And I regret not starting sooner.
Those aren’t terribly awful regrets. But they are what’s on my mind tonight.
