Safe and Sane fireworks are legal in the City of Stockton this year. For the first time ever, fireworks will be sold inside city limits. Several local non-profits will have booths set up around town. You can find a list of all the participates and the locations of their stands at the Stockton Fireworks website.

The Stockton Rod & Gun Club are hosting the Annual Walter K Banks Fishing Derby on Saturday, June 12 from 7-11 AM. Kids 15 and under can come fish, or learn to fish, for free. A Bay Area casting agency is looking for Stockton talent. On May 22nd, American Eagle Casting will be holding an open audition for roles in the second season of the Investigation Discovery Channel's series, "I Almost Got Away With It." The casting calls will be held in Patterson beginning at 10AM and American Eagle Studios has asked specifically for participation from anyone interested from Stockton.

Our thoughts on Mayor Ann Johnston's State of the City Address. Last week the Mayor gave her Stockton State of the City Address speech. She talked about what Stockton needs to do in order to shake it's national reputation. Dallas Braden was also brought up as an example of the kind of person she is looking to to help change the "attitude" of the city. You can read the text of the speech here.

The Stockton Stingrays vs. Podcast Stockton beep baseball rematch you have all been waiting for. We recently took on the Stockton Stingrays beep baseball team. The Stockton Stingrays are still looking for six-person teams to play them on Saturdays at Atherton Park. Several local leaders of the industry will be be represented this year including those from radio, television, film, journalism and graphic arts. Matt and I will be the emcees as well. A recap of the 22nd Annual Earth Day Festival. Matt and I were emcees at Stockton's Earth day festival hosted by the Peace and Justice Network of San Joaquin Valley. There were several bands and performing artists that participated in the event including The Afternaps and Tara Tinsley from Musicians for a Better Planet. Several teachers were given awards as well as a grant and Congressman Jerry McNerney and City Council Member Susan Eggman addressed the attendees. The Courage Campaign of San Joaquin is hosting a Mardi Gras party. On Friday April 30th at 6:00pm, the Courage Campaign of San Joaquin will be putting on a Mardi Gras party in an effort to raise awareness of their organization. The event will be held at Valley Ministries MMC in Stockton and is free to attend.

Help save "Music in the Park."A 58 year old tradition is on the verge of ending as the City will no longer be able to support the "Music in the Park" program held at Victory Park. Thusday, April 29th from 5:30 to 7:30, there will be a fundraiser to help continue this event. Bring your chair and your checkbook and enjoy the music of local artists "Next Door Neighbor;"
